What is a DNS Leak?
A DNS leak occurs when your DNS queries - the domains you visit - escape outside your VPN tunnel and reach your ISP or other third parties. Even though you are using a VPN, someone may be able to monitor which websites you visit.
How to fix a DNS leak?
- - Use a VPN with built-in DNS leak protection
- - Configure DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) in your browser
- - Use trusted DNS servers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, Quad9 9.9.9.9)
- - Check the DNS settings of your operating system
