What's the difference between WireGuard® and OpenVPN®?
WireGuard® uses modern encryption (ChaCha20/Poly1305), has a simpler codebase, and is generally faster. OpenVPN® is a more mature protocol with greater compatibility and more options (UDP/TCP, multiple ports) - ideal for networks with strict firewalls.
Can I connect my entire network through a router?
Yes. If your router supports WireGuard® or OpenVPN® (e.g. OpenWrt, pfSense, OPNsense, DD-WRT, Asus Merlin, GL.iNet), download the config file from your dashboard (Connections) and import it directly. This automatically protects all devices on your network - smartphones, smart TVs, IoT devices - without installing an app on each device separately.
How do I set up WireGuard® on a router?
Download the .conf file from dashboard > Connections > WireGuard and select your server. Open your router's management interface (e.g. LuCI for OpenWrt, ASUSWRT for Asus Merlin) and import the config under VPN > WireGuard. Detailed guides per firmware are available in the Help Center.
How do I set up OpenVPN® on a router?
Download the .ovpn file from dashboard > Connections > OpenVPN and choose your protocol (UDP/TCP) and port. Go to your router's VPN settings, import the config and enter your username and password. Widely supported by DD-WRT, Tomato, pfSense, OPNsense, OpenWrt and GL.iNet.
