What Is Ransomware?

Malware that encrypts the victim's files and demands a ransom to decrypt them.

Ransomware encrypts files on the victim's device or network, making them inaccessible, and demands payment (usually in cryptocurrency) in exchange for the decryption key. There is no guarantee that paying will result in the data being recovered.
