What Is Rootkit?
Malware designed to hide deep within a system and maintain remote access undetected.
A rootkit installs itself at a low level of the operating system (often with administrator privileges), hiding its own presence and that of other malware from antivirus programs, so the attacker maintains remote control for an extended period.
