What Is Cryptographic Key?
A string of data used to encrypt or decrypt information.
A cryptographic key is the "secret parameter" an encryption algorithm uses to convert data into unreadable form and back. The key length (e.g. 256-bit) largely determines how hard the encryption is to break via brute force.
