What Is DNS Leak?

When DNS queries "leak" outside the encrypted VPN tunnel, revealing the websites you visit.

Normally, when you use a VPN, all DNS queries (which translate website names into IP addresses) should pass through the encrypted tunnel. A DNS leak happens when those queries are sent directly to your ISP's DNS server instead, bypassing the VPN and revealing the websites you visit.
