What Is Firewall?
A security system that monitors and filters network traffic based on predefined rules.
A firewall acts as a filter between a network (or device) and the rest of the internet, allowing or blocking traffic based on security rules. It can be software on a device or dedicated network-level hardware, and forms a basic first line of defense against unauthorized access.
